Since The Addams Family was first introduced to viewers in the classic 1964 TV show, many have been captivated by Gomez Addams, his wife Morticia, their children and other various family members. Throughout the years, the fandom has continued to grow thanks to the 1990s movies The Addams Family and Addams Family Values. There are even animated films featuring the quirky family. But across all these forms of the group, folks haven’t fully gotten to know one particularly important character: Wednesday Addams. Now, famed director Tim Burton is putting the spotlight on her in the new Netflix show Wednesday.
The streaming series, out on November 23, centers around a teenage Wednesday who’s been struggling to stay in school. As a result, her parents decide to send her to Nevermore Academy where they first met and fell in love. There, Wednesday finds herself navigating a new environment. It becomes even more complicated when she discovers there is a dark secret clouding her family. In order to save her loved ones, she must solve an unraveling mystery dealing with “serial killers, murders and monsters.”
With all that said, now it’s time to meet the Wednesday cast, who portray characters both old and new. Some actors, you’ll definitely recognize, such as Scream‘s Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Gwendoline Christie and Luis Guzmán. Others already have history with the Addams Family franchise, like Christina Ricci. And a few … well, you’ll have to keep on reading to find out. Below, take a look at the cast of Wednesday:
Comedian Fred Armisen steps into the role of Uncle Fester, the show’s trailer confirmed when it debuted on October 8. Most famous for being a cast member on Saturday Night Live for 11 seasons, he has worked on projects like Portlandia and Documentary Now!. He is currently working as a voiceover actor on Netflix’s Big Mouth.
Most recently seen in the reboot of Scream and Netflix’s You, Jenna Ortega stars as the titular role in the latest Addams Family adaptation. While fans of the character will still recognize her morbid personality, Jenna’s version will learn to navigate psychic abilities while attending Nevermore Academy.

Catherine Zeta-Jones has been in Hollywood for almost four decades, with credits in blockbuster movies like The Mask of Zorro and Chicago. Plus, several captivating appearances in the Fox series Prodigal Son before its cancellation. In Netflix’s new Wednesday show, she plays Morticia Addams, who loves to tend to her garden and be the voice of reason for her family.

As the patriarch of the Addams family, Gomez is known for three things: being in love with his wife Morticia, intrigued by anything remotely ghoulish and having eccentric reactions to the antics his family pulls. Fans may also recognize Luis Guzmán for roles in The Resort, Narcos and Puerto Ricans in America.

Game of Thrones fans may remember Gwendoline Christie as Brienne of Tarth, but she has also been in a number of projects since. She portrayed Captain Phasma in the Star Wars franchise and played Lucifer in Netflix’s The Sandman. She takes on the role of Larissa Weems, the principal of Nevermore Academy who has some unresolved feelings toward Wednesday’s mother, Morticia.

Hunter Doohan portrays Tyler Galpin, a friend of Wednesday’s whose dad is the town’s local sheriff. Before Wednesday, Hunter had minor roles in Schooled, Westworld and Showtime’s Your Honor.

Actor Georgie Farmer stars in Wednesday as Ajax Petropolus, a student at Nevermore Academy who is also a Gorgon. While we’ll have to see how he interacts with Wednesday, this isn’t Georgie’s first fantasy role. He previously played Jake Crossley on The Evermoor Chronicles for Disney Channel U.K.
As Eugene Otinger, Moosa Mostafa portrays a student at Nevermore Academy who is the president of the school’s beekeeping club. Fans may recognize him from Netflix’s The Last Bus and the 2018 film Nativity Rocks!.
Actress Emma Myers portrays Enid Sinclair, Wednesday’s roommate at Nevermore. The two quickly learn that their personalities are total opposites. While it’s unclear whether the girls will be friends, the trailer shows them having banter. Emma’s previous roles include Freeform’s show The Baker and The Beauty and the movie Girl in the Basement.
Naomi J. Ojawa joins Wednesday as Yoko Tanaka, a member of the popular kids at Nevermore Academy. If she looks familiar, fans may recall her playing Kate in the 2020 film Skylines.
Joy Sunday was brought on to the Wednesday cast as Bianca Barclay, one of the most popular studentsl. Despite her popularity, folks wonder if she used powers of persuasion to gain the attention of those in school. Before Wednesday, Joy had roles in projects like MacGyver, Bad Hair and The Beta Test.
Percy Hynes White stars as student Xavier Thorpe in Wednesday. Described by Deadline as “charismatic and supernaturally artistic,” he has his celebrity psychic dad to thank for it. Before heading to Netflix, he had roles in The Gifted, The Twilight Zone reboot and 11.22.63.
Riki Lindhome plays Dr. Valerie Kinbott, a local therapist who Wednesday sees. As Netflix loves to put a unique spin on the teen/therapist relationship (like Devi Vishwakumar and Dr. Ryan in Never Have I Ever), it’s only a matter of time before we see how these two will work through Wednesday’s teen trials and tribulations. Viewers may recognize Riki from roles in Knives Out, Gilmore Girls and The Big Bang Theory.
Jamie McShane appears as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, who has no love for Nevermore Academy nor Wednesday’s father Gomez. He has a chip on his shoulder about all things Nevermore Academy and wouldn’t mind seeing it shut down. Fans might recognize Jamie from Sons of Anarchy, Bloodline and Southland.
Most famous for portraying roles in Yellowjackets, Casper and The Lizzie Borden Chronicles, Christina Ricci is associated with playing Wednesday Addams in 1991 iteration of The Addams Family. Deadline reported that she will not be portraying an older version of Wednesday and instead, she has an entirely brand new role as Nevermore Academy dorm mom Marilyn Thornhill.
