NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
As we reach the end of the year, most of us non-celeb folk look forward to things like Christmas and New Year.
However, for the stars, the end of one year and the dawn of a new one heralds a different kind of season’s greetings – awards season.
Films and shows released in 2022 will start being nominated for the 2023 award ceremonies very soon, with the first of the major ceremonies starting in early January and lasting until the Oscars in March.
Awards season typically includes the Golden Globes, the Critics Choice, the Academy Awards, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG awards), and the Grammys.
The Golden Globes come first, kicking off awards season in January. So, when are the nominations revealed and when will the ceremony be?
The 2023 Golden Globes nominations will be announced on Monday, December 12 beginning at 8:35am ET in the US – or 1:35pm in the UK.
The nominations will be revealed on NBC’s Today Show by George Lopez and his daughter, Mayan Lopez, the stars of the NBC comedy Lopez vs. Lopez.

Details for how to watch from the UK are unclear, but the Golden Globes website confirms nominees will be highlighted across Golden Globes social media accounts as they are announced, so follow their Twitter account if you want to keep up with the action.
The Golden Globes honour both film and TV.
The categories include:
Movies like the $1bn earning Top Gun: Maverick, Elvis and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are early favourites to be nominated across the categories.
Meanwhile, shows like Only Murders in the Building, Netflix’s Wednesday and House of the Dragon could likely take home several nominations.
Next year’s Golden Globes ceremony will take place on January 11, 2023.
The 80th Golden Globe Awards will honour the best in film and American television of 2022.
This year, comedian Jerrod Carmichael will present the ceremony.
‘We’re so excited to have Jerrod Carmichael host the historic 80th Golden Globe Awards,’ president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Assocation Helen Hoehne said in a statement.
‘His comedic talents have entertained and thrilled audiences while providing thought-provoking moments that are so important in the times we live. Jerrod is the special kind of talent this show calls for to kick off the awards season.’
The ceremony will air live on NBC from 8pm ET in the United States, which is 1am in the UK.
It’s a return to form for the ceremony which didn’t air on TV at all in 2022, following a backlash to the lack of diversity in the nominations.
However, it’s not yet known if there will be a stream for the UK. The 2022 ceremony wasn’t broadcast in the UK.
Fans can usually follow along with the action via social media, though.
